My Story

Every epic tale begins with a spark.

For me, that spark was design. My first love, my “wow i can imagine myself in this field” moment.

Heyoo I'm Royden.

I'm a designer who enjoys following the conventions to rebuild the conventions.

Experienced in digital and visual design, I'm focused on creating cohesive contextual collaterals that resonate. My affinities include: design systems and accessibility; user personas; and brand refreshes and strategy.

When I'm not designing, you'll probably catch me running or Citi-biking.

Currently, I am spending my weekdays at Phia shaping the future of fashion and an architecture student at Cooper Union, dreaming up physical spaces.

Yoo I'm Royden.

Currently, I am interning at Phia shaping the future of fashion and an architecture student at Cooper Union, dreaming up physical spaces.

Design, Craft, Taste, Art, Culture are often brought up in conversations as I navigate the space. What does it mean to be an designer? Can it be used synonymously with being an artist? Creator?

I like to call myself a cross-pollinator designer, with the innate ability to extract systems, spatial logics, and fundamentals across multiple disciplines when producing designs. Across the disciplines of Architecture, Art, Music, and Design, the present-ation and re-present-ation of ideas about the human form is conducive to how we live.

Design is such a fundamental part of our life. Everything is designed, from the lamp above your head to the device you're using to read this. Everything is designed. And guided by Paula Scher's words, "You have to get bad in order to get good," I continuously strive to improve my skills and challenge myself with new projects.
